    challenging walk

The location is breathtaking, nestled right near the mountains with stunning hiking trails to explore. Despite being a bit far from the town center in the evenings, the serene atmosphere makes it worth it. The owners go above and beyond, making you feel like family throughout your stay.

The uphill walk back from dinner was challenging due to limited evening taxi services.

    Charming stay with amazing views

Had a lovely 6 nights in a King Room with a stunning view of Lake Chapala. The breakfast was a highlight. the french toast was super tasty! The outdoor dining area was nice to relax in. Only thing was the wifi didn’t work great in our room, but it didn’t ruin the vibe. Would highly recommend!

The property features a stunning view of Lake Chapala, but the walk to town is on a challenging cobblestone road. Very comfortable King Room with lovely terrace. Breakfast was excellent and the owners were delightful.

    stunning view
    homemade muffins
    spacious room
    wifi connection

Staying at Casa De La Abuela was delightful. The King Room provided a stunning view of Lake Chapala, and the room was spacious with a lovely terrace. Breakfast was a highlight each morning, featuring fresh fruit, homemade muffins, and made-to-order options from abuela Gabriela. The outdoor dining area felt serene, perfect for relaxation. The garden and pool area were well-kept, offering a welcoming atmosphere. However, walking back up the steep cobblestone street to the hotel could be challenging, especially after a long day. Wifi connection in my room was spotty, which made staying connected difficult at times. Overall, the charming environment and attentive service made for a pleasant visit despite a few hiccups.

The room was beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

The shower cleanliness left much to be desired, with noticeable mold in the bathroom that detracted from the overall experience.

    cozy retreat
    welcoming atmosphere
    unclean bathroom

Clean, comfortable rooms offer a cozy retreat. Abundant plant life and resident dogs Junior and Lady create a welcoming atmosphere.

Shower cleanliness left much to be desired, with mold in the bathroom and noise from the upstairs guests disrupting sleep. Limited storage for clothes made unpacking a hassle, and breakfast options didn’t quite delight the senses.

    poor wifi
    bathroom renovation

i really thought i’d be treated like royalty, but instead i found myself in a room that obviously needed renovation—especially the bathroom. the wifi was practically non-existent, and $5 for an extra cup of coffee at breakfast? give me a break. i almost considered leaving a good review, but the utter lack of consideration ruined it for me.
